Our long history is the foundation for the reliability we bring to every project. We have evolved from a small, local bridge-builder into a regional general contractor and national steel specialist.

Founded on a Handshake
Ben Hur Construction is established by W.N. Brown with assets secured through a simple handshake agreement, setting a standard of integrity we still hold ourselves to today. We began by solving local infrastructure challenges, primarily building bridges across the Midwest.
Historical note: Our name was chosen a full fifty years before the famous 1959 epic film.
Deep Roots Take Hold in Indianapolis
As we grew beyond St. Louis, we established a lasting presence across the Midwest. In the 1920s, we opened our Indianapolis office. Over the next several decades, the division contributed to landmark projects including the W.H. Block Building, the Market Square Arena, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
A New Era of Complex Projects
As project demands increased, so did Ben Hur’s capabilities. Key milestones during this era included work on the GM Wentzville Assembly Plant and major structural steel projects for professional sports stadiums, including Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ball Park.
Solidifying a Century-Old Alliance
In 2012, Ben Hur formalized its longstanding relationship with Stupp Bros., Inc., bringing together two companies with a shared history spanning more than a century. The merger strengthened Ben Hur’s foundation and positioned the company for continued growth.

With four regional hubs in St. Louis, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Columbus, Ben Hur operates as one cohesive team with national reach. We continue to strengthen our teams and evolve our capabilities to meet the changing needs of our clients while staying true to the values that have defined Ben Hur for generations.
